Types of Fabrics Available In Indian Markets To Stitch Your Favourite Outfits

India is a land of diverse cultures and therefore it has a rich variety of languages, food and clothes.

for clothing, finding different kinds of fabrics in Indian market won’t occur as a surprise to you. It is
common to find a fabric market in Delhi, Mumbai or any other city. We Indians still love to get our
clothes stitched by choosing our choice of fabric. Here are some types of fabrics you will find in
Indian markets.

Brocade

This fabric which is made up of colourful threads silk, polyester, cotton and sometimes accompanied
with gold and silver thread can be used to make party wear traditional clothes.The word brocade is a
Kurdish word which is pronounced as brocar in arabic.  

Banarasi Brocade

If you want to shop something luxe and fancy then banarasi brocade is the right choice. This fabric
has heavy fabric which is richly designed. It consists raised pattern which look elegant. They are loved
for their detailed work which is done by using gold or zari.

Kinkhwab Brocade

This heavy fabric is a type of gilt brocade. It has a beautiful amount of zari work which makes it a
luxurious fabric. It also has an underlying silk fabric. The zari makes up to 50% of the total amount of
work done on the surface of the fabric. The word kinkhwab means tiny or little dreams thus this fabric
can be called as the fabric of dreams.

Brasso

This fabric has beautiful designs just like soft tissues. It is a unique fabric which not like any
random you come across in daily life. It is also called ‘burnt out fabric’. It is a great inspiration
for any craftsman or designer. It is widely used to design many Indian traditional outfits.

Chiffon


This fabric is mostly used in sarees and the chiffon sarees are a favourite among women. It is
lightweight with a transparent appearance. The word chiffon means cloth in french. It is made up of
different fabrics like silk, cotton, synthetic fibres. It is also used to make dresses and scarves.
